Front Street Cafe first opened its doors to the Philadelphia neighborhood of Fishtown in mid-September. Since then it has been slowly rolling out each aspect of the business in turn. Starting first by offering organic coffee and juices to early morning and evening commuters, as well as a wi-fi lounge for those looking for daytime work space, a new vitality was brought to the corner of Front and Thompson.   Continue reading “Grand Opening Celebration”

A Sustainable Business

Wednesday, December 9, 2015

Front Street Cafe is the perfect example of a small locally owned business that supports sustainability in every aspect of its operations.

From initial design, concept development, to daily management, Front Street Cafe maintains these principles with the highest intention. The Cafe purchases all of their produce from a small local distributor in the neighborhood (Riverwards Produce) who sources as much as possible from local and organic farms. All fresh squeezed juices and teas are 100% organic and non-GMO while the coffee is sustainably harvested, Fair Trade Certified, and organic as well. All of the raw artisan cheeses are sourced from small family owned dairies here in the United States.

Front Street Cafe supports the local community through job creation and 90% of employees live within 1 mile of the Cafe and 100% live in Philadelphia. Almost all employees including owners walk, bike or take public transportation to work.

When the Cafe was being constructed, green design was in mind. LEED elements were considered in all aspects of construction with over 80% of the building materials being reclaimed, recycled and repurposed from other old buildings in Philadelphia that were being demolished. Why organic fresh squeezed juice is one the best things you can do for your body

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Did you know that 95% of the vitamins and enzymes our bodies need are found in the juice of raw fruits and vegetables?  Drinking juice allows highly concentrated vitamins, minerals and enzymes to rapidly enter the bloodstream, where our body can absorb all of the nutritional benefits of the fruits and vegetables.  This easy absorption gives your digestive organs a much-needed rest and replenishes them at the same time.

Front Street Cafe: Proof a Healthy (and Delicious!) Grab-and-Go Breakfast Is Possible

Why eat a Starbucks breakfast sandwich when you can eat a coconut yogurt parfait instead?

This morning, I made my way over to Fishtown’s newly opened Front Street Cafe at the corner of Front and Thompson Streets, steps away from the subway, excited to feast on all sorts of healthy breakfast delights in the name of work (yeah, my job is pretty awesome sometimes). So when I got there, I was bummed to find out that they have yet to complete their menu (they just opened Monday), so until mid-October, they’re only slinging stuff from their juice and coffee bar — smoothies, made-to-order juices, tons of teas, lattes and such — along with pre-made fare.

If you spend time in Fishtown on the regular, you’ve probably noticed a building under the El (at the corner of Thompson and Front) being transformed into what looks like a hip eatery with an awesome outdoor space, right? Well, our friends over on Foobooz have the scoop on what that space will be: It’s called Front Street Cafe, and it sounds like a sort of on-Earth heaven for the health-food-obsessed.
