On the corner of Front and Thompson Streets stands a beautiful, brick building, left over from the 1800s. Good thing it stuck around to be the site of Front Street Cafe, coming soon to Fishtown.?Front Street Cafe Fishtown
The building (found at 1253 N. Front St.) is just around the corner from Kensington Quarters and La Colombe?and one block north of the SEPTA Girard Avenue Station. It?s location is set to be a convenient stop for commuters along the corridor.
From dawn to dusk, the caf? will feature brunch from 7AM through midafternoon, with dinner menu coming in from 4 to 10PM. Lots of healthy, avant-garde choices will be available all day, with choices like wild rice collard dolmas with citrus hemp dressing; avocado citrus salad with organic baby kale, avocado, mango, radish greens, hemp, pumpkin seeds, and citrus jalapeno dressing; zucchini lasagna; and organic rotisserie half-chicken ? according to an article by Philly.com.
There will also be a full bar serving craft beer, organic wines and cocktails, while commuters on the health train can order smoothies and juices from the juice bar to go.
The historical design will be brought into the spotlight, as real estate developer and Fishtown resident Lee Larkin, along with his partner Nicole Barclay, used the original architecture of the site, and added a few knick-knacks from other old buildings into the renovation. They redid all three floors, and will also include a backyard garden capable of seating up to 80 people.
No hard date yet on the opening, but keep on the lookout for this gem from yesteryear to shine in the city in the near future.
